Our fellow traveler and host of The Gourmet Highway, Doc Lawrence, takes us to the ancient and lovely village of Micanopy, Florida.
He’s on a culinary adventure feasting on Cracker staples like smoked mullet dip, shrimp and grits, ceviche, minorcan chowder with hushpuppies accompanied by the finest Bloody Mary's in the country made with Florida's Datil pepper sauce.
This beautiful southern community was named for Seminole Chief Micanopy and is Florida's self-proclaimed antiques capital.
If you like Old Florida atmosphere, moss-draped live oaks and historic buildings, not to mention the great food and drinks, you will be charmed when you visit Micanopy. One visit will just not be enough!
